NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) – A motorcade on Wednesday, March 1 around the province will kick off Biliran’s celebration of Women’s Month in March, this year.
This was revealed by Dr. Cecil Espina, President of the Provincial Council for Women’s Welfare, Incorporated (PCWWI) in a letter-invitation sent to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Biliran provincial information center.
She informed that the provincial government of Biliran headed by Governor Gerardo J. Espina, Jr. through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) jointly with the PCWWI and the Women for Rural Development – Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipino (WORD-KALIPI) organized the event.

The 22nd annual Women’s Congress on March 15-16, 2017 as planned, highlights the various activities lined-up by the provincial government of Biliran for the month-long celebration.
The motorcade starts at 6:30 in the morning at the provincial capitol grounds passing through the municipalities around the province.
Said activity will be joined in by the women employees of the national government agencies and the local government units with vehicles, officers and members of the PCWWI, WORD-KALIPI and other non-government organizations.
The National Women’s Month celebration in March of every year is part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day in March 8 pursuant to Republic Act 6949 series of 1990 or “An Act Declaring March Eight of Every Year as a Working Special Holiday to be known as National Women’s Day”.

This year’s celebration of the National Women’s Month under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte focuses on the key foundations of partnership for change and full implementation of the Magna Carta for Women.
