NAVAL, Biliran – Bileco has announced a scheduled power interruption for Feeder 1 (San Roque, Biliran – Naval – Almeria – Mapuyo, Kawayan from September 9 to 11 (Friday to Sunday) between 5:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The  Reconductoring Project of BILECO is a band-aid or temporary solution to improve the poor power quality condition in the province.  Biliran is currently encountering an unstable power supply and poor service. The long-term solution to the current power situation is to put a 69 kv Sub-station in Naval, the capital of Biliran which has the biggest number of population and the biggest number of business establishments. This is awaiting the decision of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

Maureen de la Peña-Nierra, the internal auditor of BILECO  stated, that the latter is trying its best to shorten the number of power interruptions. Instead of 10 consecutive Saturdays’ of power interruption which will run from September to December 2016 the management had decided to make it for three successive days. The BILECO will be asking help from other Region 8 Electric Cooperative in order to complete within three days the reconductoring project thereby lessening the inconvenience experienced by the Biliranons.

The budget for the reconductoring of Feeder 1 and Feeder 2 will be from the regular funds of the BILECO consumers.

Misuse of funds?

According to a reliable source BILECO purchased a service vehicle for the Board of Directors and planning to add more for its members. The service vehicle is not a great need as the Board of Directors rarely convene more or less travel.

During the time of former GM Marlon Roa, Bileco was Category AAA. Now it has been downgraded to Category B. – BiliranIsland.com
