Naval, Biliran — A local bikers group here, in support to the Local Government Unit health front liners has extended measures to ease their night shift operations by providing 12 bicycles that can be used in reporting to their duties and going to a lodging house rented for them.
The Mt. Panamao MTB group represented by Atty. Mario Opeña, has donated 12 bicycles that could be used by nurses in reporting to their night shift duties at the Rural Health Unit (RHU). The 12 bicycles will be the nurses service vehicles during night shift because the curfew prohibits transport means at night.
The Municipality of Naval which has declared an Enhanced Community Quarantine implements a curfew for all ages in the municipality.
The administration of Mayor Gerard Roger Espina has rented a lodging house near the Rural Health Unit of this town that can be used by health front liners for night operations.
This came after the town implements a curfew which prohibits all transport modes starting 8:00 in the evening until 5:00 in the morning. Because of this, nurses who finished their 3: 00-11:00 PM shifts at will go to the lodging house using the bicycles, while nurses who are on 11:00 to 7:00 will also report to the RHU using the bicycles also.
This private and government coordination reduced the burden of health workers during night shift as they have a place to wait for the day to come in going home and a place to rest while wait for their night shifts and most of all a means in going to their duties and vice versa.
Naval RHU chief Dr. Fernando Montejo told media that he was so happy with the combined support from the LGU and the Private sector in this Endeavour. He said that the bicycles has relieve the burden of the nurses doing night shifts because they can go to the lodging house rented by the LGU for the temporary dwelling of the workers.
The 12 bicycles donated by the Mt. Panamao MTB cost the group P60,000. – BiliranIsland.com
