A head on collision between two single motorcycles caused the death of one driver and the hospitalization of the other about 7:30 in the evening on Sunday (Aug. 30) along the barangay road of Brgy. Villa Enage here.
The casualty was identified as Warren Piñon, 30, laborer, and a resident of Brgy. Villa Enage. The other driver who is still recuperating from his injuries at the Biliran Provincial Hospital was identified as Ganti Carbo, 18 years single, laborer, and a resident of Zone 3, Brgy. Sangalang of this town.
Case investigator Staff Sergeant Jershon Gervacio in a telephone interview disclosed that the two single motorcycles were travelling in opposite directions along a dark barangay road. He said that Piñon was driving a Motorstar Idol 110H color black was on his way home to Brgy. Enage, while Carbo was driving a Kawasaki Fury 125 and was on his way home to Brgy. Sangalang.
He added that upon reaching the place of accident, the two single motorcycles collided head on, resulting in the two drivers to be thrown several meters away from their driven motorcycles.
Gervacio said that Carbo was thrown to a grassy portion beside the road while Piñon was slammed on the concrete road and his injuries caused his critical situation.
The two drivers, whom SSgt. Gervacio learned came from drinking sessions, were brought to the Biliran Provincial Hospital, but Piñon died while being treated and Carbo is still recuperating from his injuries as of press time.
SSgt. Gervacio continued that both drivers wore no helmets during the accident. The two also did not have drivers’ licenses.
The two single motorcycles were brought to the Biliran Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
